The Soul of Capri: The Story of Villa La Capperina
A Legacy Carved in Stone
Villa La Capperina is more than a destination; it is a family heirloom. Built in 1950 by Nicole’s great-grandfather, grandfather Roberto, the villa stands as a testament to Capri’s golden age. Every stone was laid with a vision: to create a sanctuary that honored the island’s rugged beauty while providing a sophisticated retreat for generations to come. After decades of exclusive family use, we are now proud to share this "pearl"—one of the most beautiful private villas of its size—with those seeking the true, soulful essence of Capri.
The villa’s name is also deeply connected to the nature surrounding it. Along the entrance pathway, beautiful rows of wild caper plants grow naturally, having found their perfect habitat here, embracing the house with the scents and colors most authentic to the island. It is from this quintessentially Caprese presence that the name “La Capperina” was born.
Architectural Wisdom & The Gift of Water
Long before "sustainability" became a global priority, grandfather Roberto built with deep respect for the island’s resources. The iconic Caprese vaulted roofs are engineered to capture every drop of rainwater, channeling it into the ancient cistern hidden beneath the house. This reservoir still nourishes our Mediterranean gardens today, allowing us to maintain a lush, green paradise without consuming a single drop of the island’s precious drinking water.
The Heart of the Home: Our Historic Lemon Grove
The crown jewel of the garden is our limonaia. These lemon trees are as old as the house itself, planted in 1950 to provide shade and fragrance. They frame the villa’s most cherished spot: the large outdoor stone table. Dining here, surrounded by the scent of blossoms and the vibrant yellow of lemons that have flourished for over seventy years, is an experience that defines the Italian "Dolce Vita."
A Horizon Without End
The views from Villa La Capperina are, quite simply, legendary. From our terrace, you overlook the entire Gulf of Naples. Looking from left to right, the panorama unfolds in a breathtaking clockwise journey: from the islands of Ischia and Procida to Capo Miseno and the hills of Posillipo, reaching the majestic silhouette of Mount Vesuvius. The gaze then follows the elegant curve of the Sorrento Peninsula, just a stone's throw away from the world-famous Amalfi Coast.
Welcome to our family. Welcome to Villa La Capperina.
